How Landis Changed My Life
I have been a fisherman in Qingdao for over twenty years. I want to talk to you. Me and Landis.
I first heard that name at the harbor. A young man told me. I laughed at him and said it would never happen to me. And then my son Nick told me about Landis. He’s not at home, he knows more than I do. He said I could try to get her to find me accommodation and buy it slowly. I know only half of them, but I’m interested, and I’m telling them about my case, low income, no savings, bad English. I don’t think any of them would want to teach me step by step how to prepare my documents, how to plan a budget and how to choose the place. And I didn’t understand many of them, but they weren’t angry, they patiently explained everything, and I moved into the little house. I came home every day. It wasn’t a dream.
I’m still at the pier, but now I know I have a permanent place, don’t worry about my landlord suddenly forcing me out of the house. My son came home and said that this house feels like a real home. I didn’t know what English words it should feel for me. I know that Randis has really changed my life and my family, and even those like me who often work in the Qingdao fishing zone now have a glimmer of hope for the future.
